Community Food Pantry

St. David's Food Pantry is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Prepared boxes are available containing non-perishable food items (such as pasta, cans of soup, beans, fruit, vegetables, stock, sauces, bags of rice/lentils/beans, etc.) which were packed by Lighthouse of Michigan In addition, we have a varying selection of fresh produce and baked items, dependent on donations organized by Food Rescue US, and other local stores that make frequent donations.

Donations of cash are always welcome. Checks may be written to St. David’s and designated for the “Food Pantry,” OR you can go to the Donate page and click the DONATE NOW button and make your designated donation electronically.

"Open Hands Food Pantry" is another food pantry in our area. It is supported by St. John's Episcopal Church, Royal Oak. Click here to check out their ministry and hours of operation.

Sleeping Mats for the Homeless

Most Wednesdays, volunteers from the parish and the community, gather in the fellowship hall to recycle plastic grocery bags into Plarn (plastic yarn).  The Plarn is then crocheted or woven into sleeping mats which are distributed through the Motor City Mitten Mission.

Detroit Rescue Mission

Join us on the second Wednesday of each month from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. as we travel to downtown Detroit  (150 Stimson Street) to be with our homeless brothers at the Detroit Rescue Mission. We need your help setting up and participating in this service, which usually draws between 50 and 80 men.

Haiti Outreach Mission (HOM)

This outreach program is dedicated to helping the people of Mirebalais, Haiti - a mountain town approximately 50 miles from Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The program was begun in 1998.

St. David's, along with other (mostly local) Catholic and Episcopal churches, provides health care, education, and other services with our two partner churches in Mirebalais - St. Louis Catholic and St. Pierre Episcopal.

Our mission team is made up of doctors, dentists, nurses, and lay people from the member churches, as well as doctors and medical students from Port-au-Prince. We used to visit Mirebalais, normally, once each year. However, we have been unable to conduct our medical/dental mission trips due to the political unrest in Haiti.

We have an annual fundraising event in October with a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, dinner, and a comedy show.

Interested in Volunteering?

St. David's runs on volunteers! We believe Jesus placed so much emphasis on helping others, certainly because there are those in need, but importantly, because we feel better about ourselves when we give.

  • How can I volunteer?

Contact the church office or speak to Father Chris for more information on the above opportunities.

  • Can I bring friends to volunteer with me?

Yes! The more the merrier! Being a member of the church is not required to volunteer. Friends are always welcome!

  • Do you have long-term volunteer positions?

Yes! Some of our volunteers have been on the job for years. But you can decide on the length and duration of your commitment. We're just happy to have you aboard!
