Living Loved
THURSDAY NIGHTS AT 7PM
This men's and woman's gathering is open to adults who want to grow in community, friendship, and explore the idea of living loved. Please see our calendar for specific dates.
LEARNING TO LOVE
One of Christianity's best-known sayings has one of the least examined implications: 'love your neighbor as yourself.' So often we're told how and why to love our neighbor, but very rarely do we study this idea of loving ourselves deeply.
THE GLORY OF GOD IS THE HUMAN FULLY ALIVE
Each Thursday at 7 pm, we host a one-hour drop-in gathering for anyone who wants to study love in its many constituent aspects: loving God, loving others, but most of all loving ourselves. When we find real and practical ways to appreciate ourselves - our emotions, intellect, body, and spirit, we not only better ourselves, but those around us.
CHANGE COMES IN COMMUNITY
Living Loved is about changing ourselves for the better. Those unhelpful habits and attitudes are well-trodden neural pathways that can be rerouted. Living Loved is about helping us identify existing patterns and finding new ways to redirect ourselves to be the fully present, content, and bright lights God has invited us to be.
Men's Breakfast
So often we assign value to our worth by what we do and not who we are. This is often the case with men in the church, who traditionally can gravitate to maintenance and fix-it jobs and are not given the opportunity to go deeper into who they are as men and as Christians.
On the first Saturday of each month at 9am in our conference room, we welcome men to not simply enjoy a delicious, hot breakfast, but to talk about the challenges and joys of being men in today's world. This group is open to all men 18 and over.
Daughters of the King
Women's Group
It’s a privilege to walk in God's light and to be a part of a family that supports and encourages one another in faith. We deepen out relationship with God through prayer, reading God's word
and serving others. We volunteer for Confirmations, luncheons, and a giving tree. This year we are adopting a family for Christmas and sharing the hope we have in Christ.
Our motto is: "I am but one, but I am one, I cannot do everything, but I can do something. What I can do I ought to do. What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do.
Lord, what will you have me do? - Traci Johnson, President, Daughters of King, Bethany Chapter
PLARN WOMEN'S GROUP
Building community through service, this vibrant group of volunteers meets on Wednesdays from 10 AM-12 Noon.
The group repurposes disposable grocery bags from multiple sources to create plastic yarn (PLARN). The plarn is then woven or crocheted into mats that are distributed through the Motor City Mitten Mission to homeless individuals in Detroit. Contact the church office for more information at 248-557-5430.
QUILTERS GROUP
Do you like to quilt? Would you like to learn?
Women who enjoy all facets of quilting meet from 10 AM-2 PM on the 3rd Saturday of each month (except August & December). Quilters of all experience levels are welcome.
The quilters occasionally host a quilt show to benefit the church's outreach programs. Contact the church office (248-557-5430) for more information.
Youth & Children
Our education program serves the needs of all ages with programs and events that emphasize the importance of ongoing Christian formation.
Christian Service Brigade
Do you long for adventure, excitement, good friends, and the opportunity to learn new skills? The answer is Christian Service Brigade (CSB to its friends). Any child from 9 to 18+ is welcome to join us for the meetings and/or the outings. CSB takes a break over the summer months and begins again in the fall during the 2nd week of September.
CSB ministers to the needs of youth in an action-filled environment. Activities include camping, canoeing, rock climbing, target shooting, snowboarding, gym overnights, x-country skiing, sledding, backpacking, and flying.
The meetings include a variety of activities as well as a time for spiritual reflection, personal growth, friendships, and applying God's principles to real-life situations.
St. David’s CSB group has weekly meetings 7-8:30 PM on Mondays. There are many opportunities for fun and fellowship, including spirited games, participation in new activities, applying God’s principles to real-life situations, and friendship with a great group of guys who are looking forward to you joining them. Bring your friends.
