St. David's Episcopal Church

Programs... Music

Music plays an integral role in worship at St. David's.  Our Music Director, Chris Urbiel, leads our three choirs.

The Chancel Choir (open to those of at least high school age) rehearses on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and sings at the 10am Choral Eucharist every Sunday and all major feastdays. Choral repertoire celebrates the past and present of our Anglican and Catholic musical heritage.

The Gospel Choir (open to all ages) rehearses on the first, third, and fifth Thursdays of the month from 7:30 to 9 pm. This group shares at least one Choral Eucharist a month with the Chancel Choir and participates on many feastdays. Choral repertoire includes Gospel hymns, spirituals, and music from the world Church.

The Handbell Choir (open to all ages) rehearses on Wednesdays from 6 to 7 pm and plays for at least one Choral Eucharist a month, with participation on specific feastdays. Bell repertoire is geared not only to enriching worship, but also to teaching the fundamentals of music.

The Youth Choir (open to middle and senior high school students) rehearses Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, sings at specified services throughout the year, and presents an annual concert in the month of June. Choral repertoire is eclectic but rooted in Anglican tradition. Youth with an interest in joining should contact Mary Brown, Youth Choir Director.

Instrumentalists are always needed; interested musicians can feel free to speak with Chris at any time.
